no control panel

hey just installed windows vista beta2 and i actually have a couple of problems .. first it seems that i cant run certain files from desktop and also for what ever reason when i try to get into control panel it locks up and tryes to restart explorer ..... tryed rebooting and everything .. sighhh ..

I have exactly the same problem...

I'm also having this issue. For me windows explorer crashes whenever I try to open an Explorer Window(including control panel). I was wondering if the problem had to do with me runing 32 bit Vista on an AMD64 X2. Would appreciate a moderators reply as soon as possible.

No it is not due to the fact that you are running 32bit on an AMD 64 X2

i got exactly the same problem.

I, too, am hving problems with the control panel. When I hover on it from the Start menu, it will not launch and crash. It will run from Safe Mode, but I'm assuming what ever is causing the crash is not loading. I'm to the point of considering going back to XP, but hanging in for now.

It looks like there`s more people with this problem. I tryed to upgrade my videocard drivers but that didn`t work either.

Yea my explorer keeps restarting when try to open control panel too

Just installed today, and am now joining the ranks with this problem.

If you start windows in safe mode explorer works, and you can change your settings. I havent figured out how to fix this thing yet but im trying. Maybe this will help you http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918165 but it didnt help me much. Do you any Hewlett Packard components?
